Have you ever been so thirsty you thought you would never be able - TopicsExpress

Have you ever been so thirsty you thought you would never be able to quench it? Your mouth is dry, your lips are parched and that first swallow of cold water comes. It tastes wonderful – so cold and refreshing. It soaks into the sides of your mouth, saturating it with its goodness. You hold it in your mouth for a minute, letting it rehydrate the inside of your mouth before swallowing. When you swallow, it slides down your throat, a coolness settles down into your being. That first drink is slow, but then you drink the rest greedily. Sometimes my spirit has that same driving thirst. I have need of the Spirit to fill me to overflowing, to saturate me completely. I am the vessel of the Lord, and I need to be filled with Him. Psalm 63:1 says, “O God, You are my God; Early will I seek You; My soul thirsts for You; My flesh longs for You In a dry and thirsty land Where there is no water.” (NKJV) I picture that desert land, and that is my spirit without the Lord. But God desires to fill us. The Lord tells us in Isaiah 55:1-3, “Ho! Everyone who thirsts, Come to the waters; And you who have no money, Come, buy and eat. Yes, come, buy wine and milk Without money and without price. Why do you spend money for what is not bread, And your wages for what does not satisfy? Listen carefully to Me, and eat what is good, And let your soul delight itself in abundance. Incline your ear, and come to Me. Hear, and your soul shall live; And I will make an everlasting covenant with you — The sure mercies of David.” (NKJV) The Lord Jesus promises us that He will satisfy our thirst. Matthew 5:6 says, “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, For they shall be filled.” (NKJV) When Jesus spoke to the woman at the well, He spoke of this everlasting water – the Holy Spirit God would put in His people – “Jesus answered and said to her, Whoever drinks of this water will thirst again, but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life.” (John 4:13-14 NKJV) Is your spirit thirsty? Come to the water! It is freely given. God is waiting to fill you and satisfy you. God bless, Pastor John & Barbara
