Have you ever experienced empty success syndrome? Ive had it a few times. First when I got a job at the best law firm in the country, with a 6-figure paycheck and realized I had what hundreds of thousands of lawyers would want and I didnt want it. Then again when I built my law practice and it was the success I always dreamed of, a million dollar practice, working just a few days a week in the office and mostly from home. What every lawyer would want, right? Except that I wanted something more. Why couldnt Just be satisfied? I wondered. And then again when I reached the pinnacle of the pinnacle. Bestselling author, sought after TV guest, TWO million dollar businesses. How could it get any better than that? But, again, empty. Emptier than ever before, in fact. Once again, I had made it to the top of a game I didn’t really want to play. I had achieved “success” on someone else’s terms, not my own. I didn’t know how to build my life and business any other way. There was no one to guide me, teach me, lead me, show me. So I invented the #MoneyMap process to guide myself. That was 5 years ago. Over the years, I’ve gone through the process again and again and again as I’ve shifted, evolved and grown. And, often through quite a bit of resistance. Even today, I am once again going through the process with fresh eyes, this time I invited one of my teachers to lead me through it anew as I put my final touches on the upgrade to the process Ive been working on over the past year. Today, my businesses are back where they were in 2009 in terms of revenue and impact, but the success isn’t empty. Its FULL. It’s the launching pad for a next level I’ve always dreamed of, but couldn’t reach from where I was because it was not in alignment with who I was or how I wanted to be in the world.
