Have you ever heard being said: “its not about doctrine, its abut Jesus.” In the emergent church thinking Jesus is separate from his teachings (doctrines). So than doctrinal differences are not important but relationship with Jesus. There is a trend to separate Jesus from His teachings, but notice what Jesus said: “He who rejects Me, and does not receive My words, has that which judges him—the word that I have spoken will judge him in the last day.” John 12:48 (NKJV) To reject Jesus is to reject His teachings (doctrines).
