Have you ever noticed how similar the Polish Hussars armour was to Lorica Segmentata? In both the cases the decorations were cupric alloy on shiny steel. Unlike the Roman armour the chest plate of the hussars armour was solid, but the entire trunk was segmented, just like the Lorica Segmentata. Some of the helmets were also similar, with cheek pieces and neck guards closely resembling those found on the Roman helmets. It is fairly unlikely that the Polish armoursmiths drew inspiration from Romans, so this has to be treated as a remarkable case of armour trends and designs converging, bridging the gap of some 1500 years.
