Have you ever really pondered how much God, your Creator, loves you? In 1John chapter three, the Bible says See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! I love the word used here lavished. When I think of that word, I see the richest person in the world giving you, free of charge, any and every gift that one can imagine. Its a word that denotes giving in great, even excessive amounts, giving more than humanly possible. In fact, the root word comes from the idea of an intense downpour of rain. This is how much God loves you and me, the sinner and the saint. He loves ALL of His creation, even the ones that reject Him. This is why He came to planet earth while we were still sinners, He died for us. The one thing God does not want us to do with this kind of love is to use it and abuse it. In other words, He does not want us to use it to say I can sin all I want because He will forgive me. How long does the love last? For the Christian, it is forever. For those who reject Him, it only lasts till Judgment Day for it is at that point that He will give up on you and send you into a dark, tortuous journey away from Him forever and ever.
