Have you ever stepped out onto the edge of an idea and looked out at what lies beyond? Have you ever dreamed something so big that you can only grasp small pieces and hold onto them? Have you taken your mind for a walk through the stars? Our ability to imagine is what pushes our mental evolution forward. Without it, we are like a ship in dead calm. It is tragic to see a dream unfulfilled but the lion’s share of your pity should be with those who live dreamless lives and never step out of their comfortable and complacent existence to journey where unimaginable beauty awaits the willing explorer. Unimaginable because our minds cannot fashion thought in a vacuum. Knowledge and discovery are the fuel that burns the candle in the dark; they grant us the perspective which gives our mind wings to fly. This is why religion is so poisonous to free thought. It confines the mind to a limited realm of possibilities and restricts our imaginations to a bordered amount of intellectual space and forbids us to go further for fear of losing our eternal souls. We must reject any belief that shackles our collective dreams and mires them down in superstition and fear. -Timothy Havener
