Have you ever stopped to ponder why it is that God allows us to continue to live on this earth. Considering how totally unworthy we are to carry out His appointed work. What could the answer be? Well one thing for sure, we are alive to bless the Lord, not for the Lord to bless us. Although God does desire to bless us, our desire needs to be that we just want to praise and please the Lord. In order for us to do this it means that everything we do should be done to please the Lord and not man. We can do dishes for the Lord, we can wipe noses for the Lord, and we can help someone else for the Lord. It is not about being seen and complimented by others but by Him. I have found that a good test to check my motives is to examine what are some things that I do when no one is looking. I wonder; do we not realize that God is watching? The Lord is with us all the time. I think that when we become aware of His continual presence, we certainly change. I have also found that the change is good because as we align up to please Him, we receive peace. As followers of Jesus Christ, God has given us internal monitors that let us know if what we are doing is right or wrong before Him. Years back WWJD was very popular and it got me to thinking that if I have to ask WWJD then I already know the answer. Keep in mind that if we are making choices that please Him, we will have peace. Conversely, if we are making choices that are wrong, we will not feel right. We will become uncomfortable with a lack of peace. It doesnt take much to realize that we are not pleasing God when we are say gossiping or speaking negatively about others. Cant speak for you but when this happens to me, I sense the quenching of the Holy Spirit and I want to get out of that conversation as fast as I can. Sadly I dont get out as fast as I should. Praise God for conviction. I don’t want to do anything that quenches the Lord because I have learned, the hard way, that whatever quenches His Spirit hurts Him because it is bad for me. Today and every day, let’s live to bless the Lord. Lets ask Him to convict our hearts today that every time we are doing anything that isnt right before Him, He will let us know. Some day we will each give an account of our actions before Him. If we become aware of His presence now, we will live a life that brings Him glory, which in turn blesses us. SELAH!
