Its all about something called EdgeRank. This is part of the algorithm Facebook uses to determine what gets displayed to you. The edgerank of a page is increased with every Like ... and, even more so with every comment. So, if you volunteer Rome, you increase the likelihood that content from that provider will gain a priority position in your News Feed ... and that the provider will increase his advertizing revenues.
