Have you made any declarations to your Self regarding what you - TopicsExpress

Have you made any declarations to your Self regarding what you arent going to eat in 2015? I have. Im not going to eat anything else with partially hydrogenated fats or with high fructose corn syrup. Several of my friends and family are going off aspartame. Do you know what God wants us to stop eating? Baby food. Im not going to read all this to you because youre the big kids now and can read it for yourself, but there are two passages Id like you to consider for the coming year. In I Corinthians 3:1-4 Paul tells the church at Corinth they are carnal Christians, spiritual big ol babies, who are still on formula long after they should have been on table food. He says he couldnt teach them anything because they were envious and jealous of each other, and bickering and backbiting in church. He says they just arent ready to eat meat. Got any of that going on at your church? Its the babies, and they need to be sent to the nursery. Though scholars are not certain who wrote Hebrews, the majority feel Paul is the author. To me, its the most intellectual book of the NT and bears frequent rereading because it seems to be written for the benefit of the Jews who had accepted Christ since its full of references to Judaism. But, I digress... At the end of Hebrews Chapter 5 and the beginning of Chapter 6, the author talks about spiritual babies who still are on the bottle. He describes spiritual growth as having senses and mental faculties trained by practice to discriminate and distinguish between what is morally good and noble and what is evil and contrary either to Divine or human law. (Amplified Bible) He says to grow up and get on with it. And maybe this will surprise you. He calls teachings about purification ceremonies, laying on hands, resurrection from the dead, and eternal judgment and punishment elementary teachings. These are the foundational teachings from which God wants us to grow into spiritual maturity, not to sustain ourselves on forever. If we tried to sustain our physical bodies on nothing but milk, we would lack all sorts of nutrients necessary for good health. We would be puny little weakly things. And so it is with our spiritual life. We must ingest more than spiritual milk. I suggest this is why people get bored with church, the same food all the time. We must learn our specific gifts and calling, what they mean, how to use them, and we must walk in them. We must have the experience of knowing the love of Jesus, the power of the Holy Spirit, the holiness of Jehovah God. We must grow in prayer and in faith, whatever the answers may. We must know the signs of the end of time and trust God to take care of us. I could go on and on. Eat more food this coming year. There are lots of delicious goodies on the faith table that perhaps we have not yet tasted.
