Have you seen the Southern Reporter and Berwickshire News letters section this week? William Loneskie, Oxton. Yes Vote is Vote for Chaos - Berwickshire News The SNPs fascist tendency - Southern Reporter I dont know about you but I am getting heartily sick of people like this. The Yes campaign is from a wide spread of people, we are not raving nationalists, we are taking part in the gold standard in civic nationalism, this is a damn sight better than the ethnic nationalism we see from British Nationalists. The Scottish Referendum is inclusive, we have over 150,000 EU nationals, resident in Scotland that have the vote. This has never been done before. We have 16 year olds with the vote, this has never been done before. So, if anyone has the audacity to openly claim as a Yes voter you are a mere Nationalist please explain to them the breadth of civic Scotland that constitute the Yes campaign and ask them to take a look at the ethnic nationalism on display from Better Together before they decide who has the most progressive form of nationalism. The UK wants to re-negotiate with the EU. Fine, but is that not some kind of backwards isolationism they cry foul at us for having the cheek to want, a re-negotiation with a political system that has us in a Union? The UK sees immigration as a major problem, if they cant re-negotiate with the EU on immigration, as Switzerland sought to do, then the UK will leave the EU, simple as that. Is that not a backwards step for nationalistic reasons? Scotland wants to become a full member of the EU in her own right, not as a constituent part of a political system that many in the UK see as subsidiary to Brussels control. A great deal of people, from a diverse range of backgrounds want Scotland to leave one political union; the United Kingdom and to become an active and positive contributor to another, the EU. In doing so and with the greatest of respect, we want control over the full range of powers that any other self-respecting nation has, the ability to determine for ourselves, the political parties and policies that govern us who live and work in this nation. Nothing more, we do not want to pick a fight, we do not expect special treatment, we want the ability to determine what is right for us. So, when these people, I sincerely hope, this minority of people, voice opinions like these, as a movement for change we must challenge them at every turn because they are a dangerous voice in our midst. One that says we should not act in an open, altruistic and generous fashion but instead should be motivated by fear and reluctance to change things, to change the political system we have allowed to control us. On 18th September, we control the system. Do we turn back to austerity UK, or do we make a decisive step forward and break out of the mould we have made for ourselves. Im voting Yes for the chance to make that positive change, are you?
