Have you seen the rug in the Nancy Hanks Lincoln Hall in the Memorial Visitor Center? It was made in the early 1940s by patients at the Richmond State Hospital. Park staff recently contacted the hospital and were able to acquire a photo of the rug being created at the hospital. It is a beautiful hand braided rug measuring 21 feet in diameter. The material used to create the rug was white Navy blankets cut into 2 1/2 strips and dyed.
