Have you seen this? Its interesting - Toyota have developed an electric vehicle, the i-road, that looks a bit like a futuristic cool Robin Reliant for car share pools in cities. It automatically leans on corners, clever - like a motorbike but more stable and youre protected from the elements. It has a range of 31 miles, produces zero emissions while in operation with a lithium-ion battery, and needs three hours to be charged - it can use a standard household power outlet. Its being tested by rail commuters in Aichi, Japan in self-service vehicle-sharing stations. The program has initially been successful, with a growing amount of repeat users and high adoption rates. Its being used to encourage people to leave (conventional, petrol glugging) cars at home, and use public transport to the cities and then car share with these. There are now plans to introduce a car-sharing fleet of nearly 70 vehicles in the town of Grenoble in the French Alps, for a three-year test, starting at the end of 2014. The program is being adopted as one solution for reducing greenhouse gas reduction targets. On one of the ads for the car (which talks to a smart phone) - the car asks the driver if he wants lunch, he wants a burger, the girls says no, lets go to Veggie Town. And they do. All trying to create a green image - good they depict meat as an environmental destroyer, even if subtly. toyota-global/innovation/smart_mobility_society/news_and_events/t_i-road/?adid=ag085.from.tab&padid=ag085.from.tab
