Have you spent a lot of time in reflection on your life and the pain you experienced. Much of what we do is to avoid pain in some way. We all do it in more ways than we realize. Examples: Pleasing someone or seeking their approval to avoid the pain of rejection. Seeking financial security to avoid the pain of poverty. A relationship to avoid the pain of loneliness. Of course, the better motive is love. (Gal 1:10-12 NIV) Prayer: LORD, it is sometimes difficult to know who I am really trying to please: I think I am trying to please You, yet, I am so concerned about what others think. Help me better understand my heart and motives and be honest as to what I discover. I know I am Your child; however, I also want to serve You well and be approved by You--first, before other people.
