Have you wondered why so many of us are drawn to Mary Magdalene now? Most of us know very little about Mary Magdalene’s real life, especially her years in France after the crucifiction. Yet, she has been appearing in people’s dreams and visions, and peaking our curiosity in the past few years. We know there is a reason her life is calling to us. We can sense she has a message to share. Here are six of the dozen or so sites we will visit to explore the Magdalenes life and messages within the Sacred Feminine: Saints Marie de la Mer, which is where Mary landed in exile from her homeland. Here, we’ll reflect what it means to free ourselves from our own feelings of exile. Saint Maximin la Sainte Baume is where Mary Magdalene lived in the mountain cave, and where some of her remains are said to be preserved. The mountain that housed her cave was once dedicated to Isis, so here we will enter into our own spiritual caves to discover the meaning of the Sacred Feminine for us today. We’ll explore our own natural healing abilities at some of the sacred water sites, because water is the element deeply associated with the Sacred Feminine and our healing potential. The spring at the former home of Nostradamus’ family in St. Remy-de-Provence, as well as the waters of Lourdes and St. Baum are all said to have healing properties. At Rennes-le-Chateau and the tower of Magdala built in her honor, we’ll contemplate the mystery of life, for it is here that many secrets about her may have been kept for centuries. At Aix-en-Provence, one of the places Mary Magdalene is said to have died, we’ll enter into our own spiritual initiation in honor of her initiation through death. There are many black madonnas in France, which some attribute to the Magdalene and others to Isis or St. Sarah. And still others speak of them as reminders of the Sacred Feminine or yin energy embodied by the darkness that holds all potential for life and light.
