Havent posted anything interesting in a while.. Lately Iv been seeing a lot of really hard working talented musicians. I wish to share some things I wish someone wouldv told me in the beginning. I will admit, my teacher and mentor Labu Rahman has been a tremendous guidance for me, and he has said some of these things to me in his own way. So today I will share a few thoughts for the young musicians in my own way. I will also attempt to try being a young student along with you and try following myself to see if they work. Fellow young musical guy/gal, I hope this aids you in your musical journey- Trust your ears. They will tell you what you want, and what you need. Those are two different things by the way. Go for what you want. See if you like it. If you do, then thats it for now. If you dont, then you will know what you need. In order to find what you need, you should try out your options. Usually, its a balance between a THIS and a THAT. All you have is whats between these two. I say balance, not choice, for good reason. Balance tends to keep the best of both worlds, but choosing makes you get rid of whatever you didnt choose. You never know if it was really useful or not, thus choosing is harder, but finding a balance is easier. If you cant find what you need, then leave it alone because you actually dont need it right now, and move on to the next matter. If you ever get frustrated, know that it is doing nothing but harming you physically and mentally. The truth is, whatever you need will be presented to you WHEN you need it. Be patient. Work hard. Allow growth to take place. See the magic for yourself :)
