Havent posted for awhile but have had yet another backup situation fail that cost a potential client 10s of thousands of dollars to remedy. When did they find out their backups werent usable?? When a disaster occurred and they desperately needed their data back. I know Ive posted this before, but going to do it again. If your business never tests its ability to retrieve data from your backup sources, you have no credible disaster recovery plan. Mock disaster recovery drills are no different than fire drills - if you never practice them youll never know with any confidence the outcome in the even a disaster actually strikes. Make sure your IT completes a disaster recovery drill as a part of their disaster recover plan at reasonable intervals and as a part of their regular systems schedule.
