Havildar Bhanbhakta Gurung Was a Nepalese Gurkha recipient of Victoria Cross, the highest and the most prestigious award for gallantry in the face of the enemy that can be awarded yo British and commonwealth forces, awarded for his actions while serving as a Rifleman with the 3rd Battalion of the 2nd Gurkha Rifles in Burma during the second world war. He was born in Phalpu, a small hill village in western Nepal in the district of Gorkha in the year 1921. Was enlisted in the British Indian Army during the world war ll at the tender age of 18. On March 1945, Bhanbhakta Gurung, stood up in open sight and killed snipper that was pinning down his company before going on to clear 5 enemy bunkers single handedly, all whilst under heavy fire...
