Having been out of Scotland for a week or two following the referendum, i have some time to consider my thoughts. I think as the Yes movement, we were great, creative and forward thinking but ultimately naive. There was no way Westminster/Whitehall was going to let it happen. there is far too much at stake for them in Scotland. We stood against power, money and a corrupt regime whose plan all along was to give us a shot at a sham democratic process which would lead to an excuse to cut spending to the Scottish Government and leave us to take up the slack through uncreased taxation. We did give them a bit of a scare, it is true but there was always the media and enough chicanery in the system to make sure independence would not happen. The fight will go on but I am not convinced democracy on its own will suffice. The dice remain loaded.
