Having sat down at the VA hospital from 9:30 AM until about 3 PM I am really furious with our leadership, both past and present. If you dont want to see my rant stop reading now. First thing this morning as we were walking in across the parking lot I saw a young man--maybe mid to late 30s with a prosthetic leg (he was in shorts) walking in with 3 young boys. I asked myself what could the circumstances with this be. Having an active imagination I surmised his wife was working (he obviously cant) and he stays home with the boys and school is out, so he brought them to his appointment. He had a noticeable limp, a cane, and a prosthetic. And, 3 young boys. So, naturally I think Middle East. Then I sat in the main lobby across from the main doors for hours watching all kinds of wounded and ailing men of all ages come in there, and sat there stewing about the War on Terror and what is going on right now in Iraq. The worst thing I saw was a man, maybe 40, in a wheel chair, with obvious limb injuries, but to top it off he had no jaw and had some facial injuries. Mike and I both really squirmed over that one. I was quiet and Mike says quietly to me This is hard. I just wish I could make our representatives in D.C. sit opposite the front door of a military hospital all day long. It is heart breaking. And, now, with Iraq going to shit I had to ask myself over and over, as these men came in and out, was it worth it? The best I can say today is A pox on George Bush and damn Obama for not leaving some kind of residual force there to hold the line because all the grief and pain I saw today is multiplied all over this country and all over those countries who helped us and all over that region and it looks like it was all in vain. I think in songs a lot and in my mind this song just kept running through. It was like an appocalyptic movie in my brain. What a shame and what a terrible waste. youtube/watch?v=i1GmxMTwUgs&feature=kpmy
