Having studied at the most prestigious IIT in the world, I too am possessive about it and worried about getting its brand value diluted. But this is selfish. IITs are not about a brand that promotes me, but about educating largest number of Indians with the highest quality. Give it whatever name you like. I am happy to see 50 or 100 such institutes. We lack high quality education ecosystem in the country, and everyone looks to the West for practically every reference point. We need our own. China outgrew the West a decade ago.
