Having trouble with dead pre-lit Christmas tree strings? (Wrestled - TopicsExpress

Having trouble with dead pre-lit Christmas tree strings? (Wrestled several hours with ours today) After checking all the bulbs on several bad strings, I figured out that there was one non-removable bulb with a white bulb socket ring on each string. These are usually blown. It also seems they put bulbs in these sockets that dont shunt when they blow. (Probably designed to make you buy a new Christmas tree) Heres what you do: Just pull that bulb out, and the wires will just pull out of the white socket. Next, I used a pair of needle nose pliers to gently rock out the non-replaceable bulb holder from the socket. Then, thread a regular replacement bulb in the white holder, slip it fully back in the socket, and youll probably be back in business. 7 of the 20 or so strings on my tree were bad when I started. I now have only 1 dead one. Needs more troubleshooting, but I dont care. 90% success works for me, and I turned the dead string section facing the corner.
