Hawai‘i Volcanoes National Parks 34th Annual Cultural Festival was held last Saturday was very interesting, we watched traditional Hawaiian crafts demonstrated and try Hawaiian food. Its was all free. Enjoy hula kāhiko and music Hālau Ulumamo o Hilo Palikū, Haunani Medeiros and Kupuna Dancers, Ben Kaili, Kai Hoopii and Diana Aki. Many watched skilled practitioners demonstrate their art Learn how to beat kapa, weave a lauhala hat, sew a feather lei, create a native garden, use plants as medicine. We tried our hands at Hawaiian crafts Played Hawaiian games, wove a coconut basket and lauhala bracelets. Made a feather kahili, and traditional lei. Tasted taro, sweet potato, sugar cane and breadfruit. I took this photo of a man preparing a palm leaf, so he could weave it into a hat or bowl. I did a digital painting of this photo.
