Haze – Sound of Music (Originally made in 2009) – Released on Recycled Records 006 youtube/watch?v=XLldfirMBPU History Nookie – Gonna Be Alright (Cloud 9 Remix) or as it was later known ‘Sound of Music’ was one of my favourite songs growing up. The riffs, the feel for its time in 1993 (for me) was a true happy hardcore song. I badly wanted to remix it. I ended up going on discogs in 2009 and buying the original record that it came out on: discogs/East-Side-Beat-Divin-In-The-Beat/release/1328060 A problem that I faced was the key of the vocal that was used in Nookie’s mix. I had no choice but to sample the record on 45 on my turntable and put the pitch down to -7 or so and recorded it in like that. For the piano riff in: youtube/watch?v=xmT7DgjOD8Q – It was particularly hard to redo from memory. Punchy Kick was from the Vengeance 1 sample pack. Compressed, EQ’d etc. Bass was from energy pro layered with a donk and saw bass from Nexus. Main Leads was from Virus TI, V-Station & Zeta. Piano was Korg m1 (digital pack) Vocals effects were from standard Cubase ring modulator. Snare was sampled from an old Scott brown record. Compressed and distorted. Track was supported by Cruze, Brisk etc when it was released I was really chuffed. Granted it was a remix but I was really proud of how it turned out. Later in 2010, JTS would remix it beatport/track/sound-of-music-jts-remix/3055888/ I thought James did a fantastic job and took it on a very different direction.
