Hazel Lydia King, 87, of Henryville, passed away at 3:45 AM on Friday, January 9, 2015 at home. Born July 4, 1927 in Morgan County, Ohio, she was the daughter of Earl B. and Mamie (McConnell) Smith. Hazel was a former Hostess at Bob Evans in Columbus Ohio retiring in July of 1989. She was a member of Henryville Community Church where she was known as the pie lady. She was a loving and giving person to all who knew her. One example being she loved to send out Birthday cards to her friends and family with gum inside the card, everyone who received one of her cards always enjoyed receiving it. Hazel loved to cook, clean, and visit the shut ins. Her family was her life that she loved dearly. On December 10, 1946 in Ashland, Kentucky, she married Kenneth C. King who preceded her in death on July 16, 2003. Survivors include, 5 children, Carol Ann King of Sellersburg, IN, Cheryl K. (Thomas) Hobson of Henryville, IN, Kenneth Craig (Tammy) King of Marysville, OH, Earl Lee (Nan) King of Jeffersonville, IN, Sandi Lynn Boyd of Charlestown, IN, 13 grandchildren, Kelli Smith, Chris Caven, T.J. Hobson, Missy Shields, Robbie King, Cindi Canaday, Nikki Canaday, Tarra Zimmerman, Chance King, James King, Elizabeth Rhoads, Nick Boyd, Ricky Boyd, 23 great grandchildren, Jacob Smith, Kyle Smith, Alexa Caven, David Caven, Zach Caven, Ryan Shields, Lily Hobson, Eva Hobson, Caleb King, Megan King, Amber King, Cole Canaday, Brody Canaday, Peyton Canaday, Ethan Canaday, Alyssa Saunders, Cody King, Morgan King, Patrick Rhoads, Hannah Rhoads, Grace Rhoads, Ava Boyd, Maverick Boyd, & 1 great great granddaughter, Pepper Ann Caven. Hazel was also preceded in death by 2 brothers, Floyd Smith, James Smith, 3 sisters, Dorothy Sayre, Margie Kuhn Fisher, Ethel Newsom, 1 grandchild, Laura Kay Caven, and 1 great grandchild, Ashley Potter Hobson. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at Adams Funeral Homes & Crematory in Henryville, with burial to follow at Mt Zion Cemetery, Friends may visit from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Tuesday, January 13, 2015 and after 9:00 AM on Wednesday both at the funeral home.
