He almost seems sincere. I agreed with almost every word out of his mouth. I wish that these politicians cared half as much about Americans as they do about their political parties and overwhelming paychecks. The fact is that this country was built by immigrants. Our ancestors all came from somewhere else, but we didnt. This is where we live. This is where we were told growing up that we could prosper. That isnt always as easy as it sounds when so many people are lining up to stand on our backs for a couple of dollars. We have to work at it. It is difficult to do that when we face so many distractions. Even now as I type this a handful of semi educated narrow minded racist assholes are arguing below this thread on YouTube about the same thing that assholes like these always argue about. Black people who think that they are still slaves and white people who think that they should be. Racism goes both ways. If you want to know the truth all you have to do is pick up a book or look it up on Google, Yahoo, or Bing. Ignorance is no longer an excuse when you have the means to educate yourself. The truth is that things need to change. When we elected this man we almost let ourselves believe that they could and did. I agree with many of the things that the president has tried to do. My problem lies with the results. Is universal health care a good idea? Hell yes. Should we have to buy it? No. Our taxes should have already done that for us. Instead our money is being funneled into a war that should have ended close to a decade ago. Does this country need some kind of immigration reform? Yes it does. If these people cant become citizens they will never pay their fair share of taxes and the burden will continue to fall on us. The middle and lower classes can no longer afford that. When all is said and done this will have been one of the most controversial presidents this country has ever had, but we will remember him. We will all know that this is history. For better or worse this is the man that we elected. Was it because of a complete lack of options? Yes. That doesnt change a thing. We dont know where we will be until it is all said and done. All I know is that I want to prosper too. I want and I need what I know I will never have. All I can do is settle for the best that I can do in the time that I have with the tools that I have. I would love to one day run for public office, but I know I dont have the required education and political pull. I would love to make the next big invention and make millions. Again I know that I dont have the means to do that. Im good with my hands and have a sharp mind. The truth is that all I really want to do is create things with my hands and live a good life. These hands shouldnt be stocking shelves for the rest of my life. I prove that to myself every night. This mind shouldnt be wasted on Facebook rants when I am capable of creating beautiful works of art. They say that the cream rises to the top, but this day and age it is hard just to find the middle with so much shit on the top. In the middle we all stand. This is one nation divided under many gods. The most powerful of which is the all mighty dollar. We have become slaves to it. We have to resort to fear tactics to validate our hate and rely on feel good stories and puppy videos to help renew our meager unsustainable faith in our fellow man. Things are hard enough. We dont need to be toxic. We choose to. I dont mean to seem hateful all of the time. I just want you to think. The world is shrinking around us. Social media and smart technology has made it impossible to hide our true colors. That doesnt mean that we cant change them as we mature into the people that we should all strive to be. I want better, but not just for me. I want better for us. We can be better than we are. We dont need god to tell us that. You dont have to hate the man in the mirror. That kind of thinking will make you a slave to your own self loathing. Good people are out there. They are struggling while the ones with the means to do something about it are too busy trying to milk us for all we have. We have to help ourselves. We have to help each other. I see a lot of people becoming wealthy on our dime, but how often do you see them really give back. Greed is our most powerful enemy. Fear is their most powerful weapon. Ignorance is only bliss, but only if you want it to be. I have worked hard to rid myself of my own bigotry, but I know it will always have a place in my heart and mind. It can be a daily struggle to keep something like that in check when all you see around you is disgusting. We all have to grow up some time.
