He gives strength to the weary, (Isaiah 40:29a) We get up go to work, come home take care of the kids and the house, just to get up and do it again. Often for barely enough money to meet our needs, let alone our desires. Does life sometimes just wear you out? Well, good news, God cares. He doesn’t get tired or wear out, and He promises to give you strength when you feel like you can’t do it again, and when you rely on God, you will find new strength and energy and will soar (vv. 30-31). Paul cried out to God about his “affliction”, but look what God’s response was: “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” (2 Corinthians 12:8). The thing is, we all have afflictions, something that just makes life a little more difficult, it could be an illness or handicap, it could be a boss or co-workers, it could even be a family member. God doesn’t promise to take the difficult or tiring away, but He does promise to provide the strength we need to not only get through it, but soar above it. Lean on His strength, and you will be able to have joy as Paul did, even when facing difficulties. Like Paul, you will understand when you rely on God, you have all the strength you need to get through it and overcome.
