He spanked my butt, taught me how to tie a hook on a line. He showed me how to check the nets, winter and summer, and how to change the weights, the corks, and to fix a break. I went with him a couple of times, in the early dawn to go hunt for geese, and ducks. He let me steer the boat, allowed me to take care of dogs, and cats. He let me grind knives on his stone, and showed me how to cut up a moose hind quarter. When we scaled the fish to dry on the racks all day, he showed me how to chop wood and how to choose the dry from the wet wood. When he skinned a deer he showed me how to go between the hide and the membranes. He yelled and swore at me at times, especially when I made him frustrated....but I never forgot all what he taught.....He was my dad....and I am ever proud that he taught me a lot....Thanks dad, Ill never forget, and I will teach my kids if they want....and i will teach my grandchildren too...
