He told me this song reminded him of his wife and if I had it. He was an immobile old man, sitting contently with other guests of the wedding. a heavy set old man, with a bright smile, and some fashion sense - wearing a very nice cowboy neck tie I kinda wanted to steal. Well, I couldnt quit understand what the title of the song was, but it was from the Sound of Music. His daughter sitting next to him said its Audevis or idle vas, I cant really pronounce it.. Finally, by the time I found it Im sure he had forgotten he asked for it, it was a request in the past. And so I slowly lifted the volume. And there he was, sitting, in mid conversation, he freezes. He shifts his head and his ears perk. What he was talking about seemed to not matter anymore. He suddenly stared deeply and at a distance, like he was looking decades back in time. His mouth slightly opened and he just stared, kinda like he had seen a ghost. than his mouth started shaking and his body shook with it. He was crying. The people around him stood with bittersweetness. He looked at me from a distance and gave me the happy/sad smile and an appreciative look. At that moment, I think he felt the presence of his wife who had passed 5 years ago. The younger elders looked at me and gave me a thumbs up. He composed himself rather fast and toward the end of the song just nodded his head for a moment staring again at the ground as if he was acknowledging her and their love for each other.
