...He was surprised when the flames burned his skin as he jumped back from the raging inferno. Who would have thought that the fire would grow so rapidly. Straining to see through the smoke and twisting images that heat from the fire was distorting, he thought he saw what appeared to be an angel. Angels, that was impossible. The angels had left years ago saying that they would return, but after witnessing one catastrophe after another nobody believed that they even existed anymore. The man remembered what they looked like for he had lived a long time and was one of the last believers in existence. An explosion rocked the structure, and he was thrown back striking his head against the rim of the wheel of the nearby car. The last thought he had, as the lights went out, was surprise that he had been so foolish as to have gotten so close in hopes that his belief would be proven right...
