He will not break a bruised reed or extinguish a smoldering wick, - TopicsExpress

He will not break a bruised reed or extinguish a smoldering wick, until he brings justice to victory. — Matt 12:20 NET It is a high honor that is conferred upon us–when God sends to us human hearts to be comforted, or human souls to be helped. Yet every thoughtful person must tremble as he accepts the responsibility of such delicate and holy work. It is a serious moment when there is brought to a surgeon a case, on the skillful treatment of which, a life depends; or when a physician stands by a bedside to administer remedies at critical illness. But it is a far more serious moment, when a human life is put into one’s hands to be cured of its faults–or comforted in its sorrow–or to have its heart’s wounds healed. There would be some who would read this and actually assume they are better people because they have been in church for years and these are those who can kill with the words they speak lacking any trace of mercy. We need divine skill and wisdom, and great delicacy, for such sacred work! Only Christ can teach us how to deal with human lives, in their need and sorrow and in confronting sin we bathe our words with mercy. Jesus has a most gentle touch. He binds up with infinite skill the wounds that sin or grief have made and just as Jesus showed mercy to the thief on the cross, He will show everyone in sin His mercy. He never breaks a bruised reed. He will give us skill in dealing with hurt lives. Confess your sin one to another. If you know someone is in sin, and God has revealed to you a way to reach that person tenderly, then remember to speak the truth in love and do not ever judge the heart of another mans servant. Mercy will always triumph over judgement. In 2007 I asked God very casually what could I give up for lent, I know I dont have to but what could I give up for lent that would draw me closer to you. As soon as I spoke those words; these words came to me; Give me your son. I thought he had gone to school and peeked in to see him sleeping. When I woke him he said he had gotten kicked out. It was the third town and third high school for him to spend his senior year in and it was February with not much time left but he kept getting into substance abuse. I confronted his whole lifestyle and told him he had to leave. He is still in the same lifestyle; however, you hold out mercy over judgment and you bathe all you do in prayer but when God speaks to you, obey the promptings and remember, He giveth more grace to those who walk in mercy over judgment to reach out to not only the lost, out in the world but to the lost in your home; you are enabling to stay lost, and to the lost in your church who are sinning and living double lives.
