He would have been 103 today if he were still with us. He coined phrases such as My names Cliff, drop over sometime and If this rain keeps up it will never come down. He was famous for acts of generosity and of course wearing anything that was the color brown. He was never on time for anything and is the founder of the Whitney Pond Cribbage Tournament. He was a loyal Moose Member and wore that mustard yellow jacket to his final resting place. His stories are almost as legendary as he is. He came down from Canada when he was 18 and was a great American that loved this country. At 80 we found him on top of the cottage roof sweeping leaves off of it. He posted signs that said Old Fishermen Never Die, They Just Smell That Way, And Old Quarterbacks Never Die, They Just Fade Back and Pass Away. At 11:30 pm Monday - Friday you could find him watching Johnny Carson. At 11:30 am Saturday and Sunday you could find him sleeping in bed. He worked for the MBTA for most of his life but his true calling was that he was gentleman and a mentor. If you knew Robert Gerald Young take a minute today and tip your glass to him, God knows he tipped many glasses in his life time.
