«Head wind as the «capital punishment» On the fifth day of his risky trip Wolfgang Fasching once again takes a new challenge. On the uninhabited part of Siberian land – it is more than 2 000 km between the closest cities – a man from Neukirchen under Lambach is fighting windmills. Typical for this area the wind blows from the West and Fasching is going from the Far East. It’s a current that the 46-year-old athlete moving along the Chinese and Mongolian border has to stubbornly resist. Trees bend, unfortunately, in the opposite direction. But I know that in this region the winds tend to blow in that direction, - says Fasching, -so I do not want to be upset about it. Meanwhile Fasching has overcome about 2 500 km, only the fourth day became the stage of Eternity of 620 km, despite the wounded bottom part. But the problems do not end there: roads are heated at the temperature over 30 degrees as on the grill. Road cover becomes like adhesive. It must be the capital punishment. Tar is so sticky that it adheres permanently to the tires, which in turn inhibits the activity of the brakes. We stopped five times to clean the tires. In addition we must go up the hill, it is hot and it is windy. It’s really wild, - says Fasching. And then he says batting his eyelashes: The only thing I chose for myself in this situation is to continue cycling. Because of this, in spite of very heavy resistance, he is not going to stop moving at all. On the way to the world record to St. Petersburg there are still 7 500 kilometers ahead of him.
