Headed to the airport to go back to Mississippi today. A part of me hates to be going back at all, but at least I get to say goodbye to everyone and pick up my little yorkie boy. City life has been an interesting experience. In many ways its seemingly more expensive, but there are a lot of hidden savings. For one a car is totally unnecessary where I live. Most things are walking distance and the things that arent have easy public transportation. Its all very convenient. Theres a direct bus to the airport right next to my place for $11. When you do need a car, there are Car2Gos all over which cheaply let you instantly rent cars by the hour for low prices. Not having to have a car saves huge on car payments/gas/insurance/maintenance. All that stuff really adds up. Not only that, but you dont have to pay property taxes, home owners dues, lawn and house maintenance. When you add it all up, the city really is not that much more expensive. So far its been a refreshing change.
