Heading back home to NYC after a few days of meetings, celebrations, and catching up with friends in Grand Rapids and Holland I realize how instrumental this place was in my formation, providing a home for me for nearly eight years, and still extending a connection through church and school relationships and most importantly, friends. I am grateful for you West Michigan; for your community and geography, for your faith and culture--both that which I embrace and react against--for the personal history and memories you share with me. Thank you. And especially to Katy Wing Sundararajan and JP Sundararajan, and Leila and Reuben for your gracious hospitality. My only regret leaving today is that there are so many other dear friends whom I did not have a chance to connect with in the busy and short time here. Thus I will need to get back again soon.
