Heading for the Battlefields of the Northern Cape, with Colonels - TopicsExpress

Heading for the Battlefields of the Northern Cape, with Colonels Don Guthrie, Derek Moe, Mike Adrain and Rob Becker. Five days of hectic, intensive tours, dealing with the Siege of Kimberley, the Battles of Belmont (23rd November 1899), Graspan/Enslin 25th November 1899), Modder River (28th November 1899), Magersfontein (11th December 1899), General Frenchs crazy cavalry charge across the boiling veld from Ramdam to Kimberley and time permitting, Paardeberg (15th to 27th February 1900). As you will have seen, this week is the 115th anniversary of several of those battles, so well have the real feel for the atmosphere. Great company and no doubt a few G & Ts during the tour. See you all next week... The photos show Gun Hill (Belmont), Graspan/Enslin, Modder River, the Boer Memorial at Magersfontein, a scene from the outstanding audio-visual at Magersfontein Battlefield, the remains of the Boer trench at the foot of Magersfontein, the route taken by Gen Frenchs cavalry after Klip Drift, and a general view of Paardeberg Battlefield from Gen de Wets position at Oskoppies.
