Heading south on Chalan Pale Arnold Road this afternoon, I came - TopicsExpress

Heading south on Chalan Pale Arnold Road this afternoon, I came across this kid who was standing on the side of the road trying to flag down motorists who were heading north. No one was stopping. They just kept going with their business. So I slowed down till I stopped. Waited for traffic to clear and then made a u-turn and headed back towards him. As soon as he saw me, he was like Hey, Gus! To my surprise, the guy knew my name. We were at a danger zone. Right on middle road just a few miles north of the Bank of Hawaii. So close to the road. Not an ideal place to run into car trouble. I parked the Jeep and left the hazard light flashing. He got his rope out and tied it to both vehicles. I got back into the Jeep, tried pulling slowly, but it wouldnt budge. So, I decided to give it a jolt. But that was a strong jolt because it broke the rope in half. The rope was already too short. I stood and watched him grab the other end of the rope to make another attempt at tying it to his stationwagon. Next thing I know, another good samaritan pulled over and handed me his chainlink. He knew me and he also said that I was his uncle, which was great! I wish I had only gotten his name. I know, I know. I suck! So, we put the chain to both cars. As I was trying to climb the Jeep, samaritan number three pulled over and offered help. I said to her that shed be the back up plan if I failed. She agreed and waited on the side so that she could call the police department. I said, Right on! Got into the Jeep. Started the engine and with two attempts, the darn thing was out of the hole. It felt great. I gave everyone two thumbs up and then we each went our separate ways. Thanks to the two fellow Angels. Awesome team effort.
