Heading to Nashville Music City Center tonight to view a special screening of the documentary, Glen Campbell: Ill Be Me! The film tells the story of his life after his diagnosis of Alzheimers. The power of song can transcend much. “I ain’t done yet; tell them that!” That’s what country music legend Glen Campbell (Official) said when he was told to hang up his guitar following a diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease in 2011. What he did instead was set out on his famous “Goodbye Tour” across America. The five-week tour turned into a 151-show tour, and it was all filmed to document the amazing journey he and his family were on as the Alzheimer’s progressed in “Glen Campbell: I’ll Be Me.” Glen and his wife, Kim, made history by being the first major American celebrity to share this experience with the world. Tonight, LeadingAge is hosting an advanced screening of the film at its Annual Meeting at the Nashville Music City Center, followed by a star-studded lineup of The Band Perry, Delta Rae and Ashley Campbell. Proceeds from the event will help continue the work LeadingAge is doing to foster dementia research and care.
