I met a woman who offered me help in reaching my Aunts place in Kottayam. With tears in my eyes, I could not even realize when the woman took me to a lawyer, into a lodge. It only occurred to me where I was, when he came inside the room and locked the door. He then ravaged me physically like I was some animal. He tore me apart, violated my identity and destroyed me emotionally. Those inhumane eyes knew no mercy. He would not stop despite all of my cries, requests and prayers. That was only the beginning of those 40 horrendous days that killed me slowly. I dont remember the place I was or face of the attacker. I just knew that I was being raped. They would throw me away like some object that has met its purpose. I would bleed away, deserted, with no mother to help me. I am not the same person anymore. I have now forgotten how to smile and laugh. I don’t know what emotions are. I cannot sleep at night because darkness brings back those appalling memories. I shiver at the sight of such eyes, that I see so often. My father looks at me in a different way as if now I am too polluted to be his daughter. I still dont understand what I did wrong. What was my mistake? Yet, if I was not at fault then why am I the one to die?
