Headline in our local paper, HEALTHCARE SPENDING GROWS AT LOWEST RATE SINCE 1960 Wow, I say and continue on to read the article...which, of course, got its information from the obama administration. It talks about the exceptionally small increases for 5 straight years and that the share of the economy devoted to healthcare...had been the same since 2009. The article continues along with the bragging etc. Then...in the last paragraph obamas groupies list the reasons for all of this....ALWAYS pays to read the last paragraph in articles...they can be SO revealing...#1 new limits on Medicare payments to hospitals and hmos...(meaning less coverage for things they used to pay for.) #2 automatic across the board cuts in federal spending required by a 2011 law...which means that Congress must have been doing SOMETHING occasionally, in spite of obamas claim that they do nothing... and THEN we come to the last reason give: #3 THE PROLIFERATION OF HIGH-DEDUCTIBLE HEALTH INSURANCE PLANS, WHICH TEND TO DISCOURAGE THE USE OF CARE BY REQUIRING CONSUMERS TO PAY MORE OF THE COST. Anybody else out there trapped in the clutches of obamacares new and improved insurance policies see the irony of this statement?????
