Headline this evening: Grocery shelves stripped bare. No big surprise. That header was on the evening news reference the storm headed to the NE, but has been common when any kind of natural phenomenon is headed for populated areas. Why do people go nuts? Because they live day-to-day despite knowing that in winter it snows and ices over in some places. Storm surges and floods do hit coastal areas. Earthquakes happen. In parts of the country dry springs produce summer fires. People in big East Coast cities are going to suffer and some will die over the next few days because of their own inaction. Be ready for what comes. This storm will pass in a few days but the lingering effects are going to delay resupplies and could cause power outages. Dont be a victim. If you know that your area is vulnerable to power and transportation shutdowns then be smarter than the panicked shoppers stuffing stuff into carts and wishing they had come to the store sooner. Its very easy to be ready for any of these and other likely emergencies. You are not identifying yourself with a lunatic fringe by taking simple but very important steps to be ready.
