Heads up on the new restaurant in Tinley Park, Arielss. Its billed as an Irish bar/restaurant. We went last night after I balked from cooking after a long chore day. The bar was packed and many were eating full meals. We went into the restaurant end at 5:45 and it was nearly empty. More TVs than you can count both sides, and one is about 15 feet long and curved like an IMax on the restaurant side. Ariels is like child that is a cross between parents named Coopers Hawk and Champs. With one grandma who is an Italian who doesnt speak English and another grandma who is Southside Irish . Very different combos and lots of fusion. Ken thought it was pricey. But everything is pricey to Ken. I think it is the new normal for the quality. Flights and much else (beer flights too) as C. Hawk. Menu is huge- many pages. Liquor menu longer. Service is new and being tested- not always swift. But the food was SUPER hot (temperature) and that is RARE. I can not stand food losing all its heat. It was sizzling hot. And FABULOUS. My second best dish on the Southside is now Joe-sieppes Chicken. (First is Gattos Tilapia Vesuvio). There are 3 soups each day and tons of appetizers you could eat instead of dinner or lunch. My entrée ran $14.99. As did Kens. It had peppers and balsalmic reduction on a mound of Yukon gold mashed potatoes. In between tiny mounds of garlic spinach. It was awesome and not 2000 calories either. The bread you get for the table is pretzel steamed and delicious. Shepards pie and other Irish stews too. But many Italian dishes with fusion. The reduction sauce was excellent. Just west of Harlem Ave. near 183rd (actually 184th) behind the Pops and Pad Thai within the hotels. I could ride my bike there easily. Nice option. Lots of circuses going on within the other side on a Wed. night too. Crowded on our side by the time we left. as well.
