Health Facts-WikiWeightScore Reduce Inflammation, Heal Your Body Inflammation is now being recognized as a key factor in multiple ailments ranging from heart disease, to obesity, to asthma, to muscle aches, to peripheral artery disease, to foot pain, including plantar fasciitis. Inflammation is broadly recognized as a modern life ailment caused by modern contaminants and the modern diet. While we have to live in the world we live in, we don’t have to eat inflammation causing foods. The most common foods in the American diet that encourage, support and, in some cases, cause inflammation are refined grains, sugar, trans fats in processed and junk foods, saturated fat in red meat and omega-6 oils in vegetable oils (corn, soybean and sunflower oils). Another source of inflammation are foods that cause your blood sugar to spike too fast and too often. This includes sweets, pasta and white flour. These common sources of inflammation can be made worse by chronic allergies to foods such as wheat, soy or eggs. What To Do Eat more omega-3 fats. The oil in fish such as salmon help reduce inflammation. Up your intake of fish or, at a minimum, fish oil. Do a diet makeover. As momma said, eat your veggies. Specifically, eat more green vegetables and other fresh plant foods. Reduce or eliminate sugary treats, refined grain foods and highly processed foods. If you have to, and I do, pick a cheat day and go bonkers. It is better for you than a continual daily barrage of damaging food. It will also let you know how bad this stuff is for you…you will feel awful the next day. Just a warning.
