Healthy Living A-Z in Victoria provides the ideal alternative for those who have embraced a healthier and balanced way of life. BY SS Slimming tea, healthy cereals, natural protein supplements and a plethora of essential vitamins and minerals are but a few of the items that can be purchased at Healthy Living A to Z shop that is located at the M.S Complex, adjacent to Barrel Nightclub in Victoria. Its proprietor, Andre Derjaques, told this newspaper that the idea for such a venture stemmed from the fact that there were no other businesses that specialized in natural organic produce at the time. “I had a close friend who was sick, and it was very hard to obtain natural alternatives to what conventional medicine was offering.” That was nearly four years ago. Today, Mr Derjaques’ shop is literally stocked to the rafters with every imaginable product that is free from harmful products such as cholesterol, preservatives and excessive amounts of refined sugar. Importing most of the edible produce from South Africa, the businessman avers that he also receives some of his stock from Germany, the US and India – where he receives most of his herbal teas and his best selling wheatgrass powder, a product that boasts of a myriad of health benefits such as boosting the immune system, detoxification and aiding in weight loss amongst many others. As a former sportsman, Mr Derjaques confirmed that he still enjoys staying fit, reminiscent of the days when he even represented his country in the Indian Ocean Games in football and later, tennis. “I am very happy with the level of response the shop has received – particularly from women, as they seem to be more focused on their overall health in the long term,” he says. And it is no wonder that products such as Remodel, a blend of natural herbs that has proven to aid in weight loss – assuming that the individual is adopting a healthy lifestyle and exercises regularly. Healthy Living A-Z also stocks a selection of feminine products that are completely free from toxic substances that would otherwise be absorbed by the body. “Some doctors even refer their patients to me when they feel that a milder, more natural product is warranted,” says Mr Derjaques who also confirmed that he can also place special orders for clients with special needs such those afflicted by diabetes or those who may be allergic to certain products. “But this depends largely on the availability of the suppliers,” he concludes.
