Heard a couple of talking heads opining about something Nixonian that should occur; giving Barack Obama the chance to resign before the upcoming Congressional elections, along, of course, with immunity from any criminal charges.... ROTTEN IDEA, and for reasons that matter more than this sitting President. The U.S. Constitution still matters to most of us, folks. People in uniform swear to uphold it and defend it, and hundreds of thousands have perished doing so. Our elected officials still swear to uphold and defend it, NOT bastardize or ignore it at their leisure. Even George W. Bush, remembered by people of my political persuasion more fondly than not, once referenced the Constitution as just a goddamned piece of paper. Other officials were quoted as saying, It constrains our ability to govern as we deem necessary. Well, GUESS WHAT, folks.....THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT THE CONSTITUTION IS SUPPOSED TO DO! And, that is exactly why Barack Obama should not be shielded from criminal accountability post impeachment, if it (hopefully) happens. If we do not demand that people like Obama, who hold both the law and the Constitution in such brazen, blatant contempt, be subject to the consequences of his contempt, then the next jackass elected, Democrat-Republican-what have you, will be given the subtle public sanction to come in and do the same damned thing! At that point, ladies and gentlemen, we will TRULY get what we deserve, which would be the ultimate fall and failure to rise of the United States. Some argue were already too close.....I understand why they feel right, and I hope, as most of them hope, that they are wrong.
