Heard about a new scam from a cow-worker. The Daughter of their friend was contacted by someone saying he was from the IRS and directing her to call them back, call originated from 202 area code (Washington DC), they called a couple of times, finally she called back. She was told that a couple of items she had used for deductions were disallowed - the scary thing here is that they had the items AND AMOUNTS correct - she panicked and gave them her credit card number to avoid the fines and penalties. Yep, for real. My co-worker had received the same call and just ignored it. He also overheard a conversation in the store about the same thing. OH - the friends daughter had used turbo-tax to file her taxes. I have no idea if TT has been hacked and I am NOT saying it has - but caveat emptor!
