Hearing With Our Hearts And Minds II Phone call came in last - TopicsExpress

Hearing With Our Hearts And Minds II Phone call came in last night...Kai. Took a few efforts to connect. I think it took a little toll on him. When we finally connected he began to tell me about two new songs they are doing in orchestra. As he spoke I could hear him trying speak with excitement wanting to share some news about Orchestra. Emotional exhaustion left a steady tremble in his words though he tried to over run them. When he paused I asked how he felt and it all came out...second night in a row of deep emotions finally surfacing for this sweet boy. Second night in a row we sat and shared our thoughts and feelings through the tears. After the tears and a good talk and laughs we said our Mahalos While talking to him again tonight and going through this process of tears, talking, laughs, and our Mahalos, my thoughts turned to something I shared a while back. Hearing With Out Hearts and Minds Turns out that moment also involved an experience with Kai. Later tonight I heard from another friend dealing with a similar experience...just at loss when those of us entrusted with these little ones, fail to realize our divine and sacred responsibility. My heart breaks over every instance I learn of... Reading through the original post I feel inclined to share it once again. Hearing With Our Hearts and Minds 8/28 It is a absolutely AMAZING what happens with a child and children when you turn down all the noise, tune out and turn off all the distractions, look them in the eyes with a level of depth and attention that you can begin to hear there thoughts. When we listen with our hearts and our minds to such a degree that when the look into the windows of our souls the look in their windows (eyes) TELLS you that they KNOW you are beyond the point of listening, that in you in fact you HEAR them. In some instances you can not even measure the reaction time of this social catalyst. The beauty in all of this, it works with the entire world. The absolute grandeur in all of this, WE CAN teach our little ones to do this with out thinking about it when we TEACH and LEAD by example. When we apply this process continually through out each moment in our day and lives. The ripple effect resulting from this application brings me to tears when I see my 11 year old son interact with his siblings, friends, and the world in a way that often leaves the passer by a little jaw dropped when they observe him. Again, when we apply this process continually through out each moment in our day and lives. Yes apply. It requires attention, focus, and even a little discipline to ingrain this process into our mental and emotional memory. In time you will see a reflection of your self in the eyes of all those around you that will leave you in awe. There are eyes upon always! Watching the things we do. Listening to the things we say. Every thing we are effects EVERYONE around us. Each word, each tone, each action, each expression, sends a message. The power and impact of these messages are measured only by the recipient, direct or indirect. We are building or are destroying. Every single time. May we remember counsel of James, exercising thoughtful approach, Slow to speak, slow to wrath, and quick to listen. And keep the words of Emerson equally close, remembering People do not seem to realize that ones opinion of the world is truly a confession of character. **Translation ** We do not seem realize that our unchecked emotional responses that we often release in knee jerk reflex on those around us is a confession of our own pain, guilt, weakness, and imperfection.
