(via Chew SC- thanks!) cilisos.my/5-malaysians-who-restored-our-faith-in-humanity/ I have a story of my own to share too: few weeks back I was out buying lunch to bring home for my mom, when I was approached by an old lady with a walking stick. She was standing by the roadside when I passed her and had stopped me, told me shed come to this part of the town to see her friend and now she does not have the money to take a taxi home, and ask if I can send her back to her home which is not far away (Setapak Jaya, we were in Sri Rampai). I had my doubts initially, being cautious about the many unpleasant stories we hear about how people get conned in similar fashion, but decided to help her anyway. Slowly, I helped her into the car, and drove her to her home as she gave me directions. Few minutes later were in front of her house, my car stopped with double-signal while I got down to assist her. As it was a narrow road with double parked cars on both side of the road, my car was blocking the traffic with its door opened. A pick up truck came up behind me and waited patiently as I led the lady slowly to the front of her house. I gave her some money as she told me shes living alone (her son is abroad) and had no income. As I was getting back to my car, I gestured to thank the Malay man inside the pick up truck. He acknowledged and as he drove by, stopped and ask me if that lady was my mother, and gave me recommendation for a traditional massage therapist that he said is very good at healing limp like that of the ladys. So not only he waited patiently, he was thoughtful enough to suggest a therapist for the lady upon seeing her condition. By the time he left and I turn around, the old lady had gone into her home, door locked. I left with a grin on my face and felt good about trusting a total stranger.
