Heather asks: I have a rising 9th grader who struggles in math and has begged to not do Algebra next year. Instead, he has chosen Consumer Math. However, all of the Consumer Maths that I have found (that are actually worth doing) are 1/2 credits but the texts are full year. I can not figure out why except to assume that it is because most do it as an elective? Is it not a recognizable math course in high school?
