Heb 10:38-39, “Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him. 39 But we are not of them who draw back unto perdition; but of them that believe to the saving of the soul. Heb 11:1-3, “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. 2 For by it the elders obtained a good report. 3 Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear. We cannot operate in and of faith without viewing faith in context. Faith is not meant to be blind nor ignorant of the truth. It is not supposed to be a quasi-magical force to make a person feel better or as an attempt to avoiding some unpleasant circumstances of life and reality that we have gotten ourselves into. Many use faith as the settling aspect of telling yourself wishful fantasies about natural circumstances. Faith has evidence and substance. But the question is evidence and substance in and for what? Is it to change reality? Is it to remove obstacles like debt that we have placed in our own path and no longer having the means to pay for what we received. Is it to remove the consequences of an action, like jail? Do we actually know what faith really is, where it comes from? What about what should faith pertain to? Faith without evidence is superstition. Faith without substance is foolish. Come join us tonight for bible study on faith.
