Heb 11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Most times when people talk about faith, they refer to faith as something abstract. Yet in the verse above the keywords are substance and evidence. A substance is a physical reality that can be touched or felt while evidence is something that gives a sign or proof of the existence or truth of something. Heb 11:27 By faith he (Moses) forsook Egypt, not fearing the wrath of the king: for he endured, as seeing him who is invisible. Faith is not a wishful thinking. It is seeing with the eyes if God. Evidence is a proof. If I have a million naira in my account, the proof is my bank statement. If I give you a cheque of a million naira and you pay it into your account and your account gets credited you have a proof. It is so real that you issue a cheque to someone immediately. That’s the same way that faith is real. You hear it; believe it and you are ready to act on it. Heb 11:8 By faith Abraham, when he was called to go out into a place which he should after receive for an inheritance, obeyed; and he went out, not knowing whither he went. Abraham heard, believed and he went out. Have you ever wondered why Abraham was referred to as the father of faith? Gen 15:5-6 And He brought him forth outside, and said, look now towards heaven and count the stars, if you are able to number them: and he said unto him, so shall your descendants be. 6 And he believed in God and he counted it to him for righteousness. For a Babylonian emigrant 75 years of age this promise sounded impossible, but Abraham believed. But if that was all, that would not have qualified him as the father of faith. Gen 22:18 And in your descendants shall all the nations of the earth be blessed. All God’s promises to Abraham were loaded. Now when Abraham died he had only a son. His only land was a burial plot. He still lived in a tent: his only permanent structures were altars erected to worship God. What God simply told Abraham was that through your descendant Jesus Christ, all the nations of the earth would be blessed. God preached Jesus to Abraham and you know what, Abraham Believed!!! #AMEN Faith of Rahab Heb 11:31. By faith the harlot Rahab perished not with them that believed not, when she had received the spies with peace. What this woman did sounded so simple. But let us examine what she did. Joshua 2:10. “For we have heard how the Lord dried up the water of the red sea for you....” About 40years ago, probably Rehab was not born or she was just a kid. The people of Israel crossed the red sea on dry land. The Israelites saw, Rahab heard. I often wonder how Rahab heard: heard that she still held unto it 40 years after. No CNN, no Internet, no established press, no nothing. The stories might have come to her like myths or legends. I wonder if I believe any of the myths that I have heard. Rahab heard an impossible story that happened probably before she was born, of an event that happened not in her country, through questionable sources and she believed so strongly that she put her whole family on the line. @def
